Overview of Education

Education is a critical foundation for peace.

Education is a critical foundation for peace, development, resilience, and long-term social transformation. In Somalia, years of conflict, displacement, poverty, and inadequate infrastructure have disrupted access to quality education for millions of children and youth.

HLDI recognizes education as a powerful tool for empowering individuals, reducing inequalities, protecting children, and promoting sustainable development. Our Education Programme focuses on improving equitable access to safe, inclusive, and quality education opportunities for children, adolescents, and youth.

We work to ensure that vulnerable learners — including girls, displaced children, children with disabilities, and marginalized groups — can access education in safe and supportive learning environments.

What We Do

HLDI implements education interventions that strengthen learning systems, improve school environments, and expand educational opportunities for vulnerable communities.

Our work includes:

The Impact

HLDI’s education interventions have expanded access to quality education and improved learning environments for vulnerable children and youth.

Through school rehabilitation, teacher training, learning support, and vocational training, thousands of learners have gained access to education opportunities, improved skills, and increased resilience for future livelihoods and social participation.
