IOM/RDS implementing through its local partner HLDI initiated a brush clearance project and community engagement project along Buffow-Marka Road. The overall objective of the project is to make secure the 2.79 km road between Marka and Buffow through bush clearance of overgrown vegetation along the road that contributes to insecurity in the area and hampers movement of people, goods and services as well as government security forces by providing opportunity that allows AS to move undetected and to plant IEDs on this important transit route.

The bush clearance project there after completion will therefore enhance safety, improve security, increase access to markets, improve inter community connectedness as well as provide short term cash relief/income from the labor-intensive employment opportunities for identified members of the communities living near the target road who will provide labor.
